Open Oakland Brigade

OpenOakland, a Code for America Brigade, is a civic innovation organization that brings together coders, designers, data geeks, journalists, and city staff to collaborate on solutions to improve how local government can serve all citizens of Oakland.  OpenOakland draws on a wide range of expertise and perspectives to build open-source applications and working relationships that promote civic innovation and open government in Oakland.

“Our mission is not to build cool, geeky projects for our own interest. We seek to create solutions for real-world issues and so will be engaged with our community and our government to seek these out.” In this effort, OpenOakland supports local leaders and city staff to learn the opportunities of openness, citizen engagement, and civic participation. “We aim to acknowledge and lift up those who embody the spirit of Gov 2.0.”
