City of Oakland Economic Development Office

The City of Oakland Economic Development Office is dedicated to helping promote and attract businesses to the City, and increasing investment in Oakland. The office’s mission is to create an environment that promotes the retention, expansion and attraction of businesses and enhances Oakland’s workforce opportunities.

Amongst their priorities include focus on key Traded Sectors (Clean Tech, Food and Beverage, International Trade & Logistics, Media, and Tech), collaboration with the Port of Oakland to develop the Oakland Global Trade & Logistics Center, and building a more positive relationship with the city’s sports teams.

The office also offers an array of resources, such as the Oakland Business Assistance Center for guidance through the City’s process, technical assistance for those interested in forming Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and Community Benefit Districts (CBDs), as well as various Incentives & Funding Opportunities.
