OpenOakland is pleased to announce the 2nd Oakland Answers ‘write-a-thon’ will be held at the new Impact Hub Oakland from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, May 31st.

Last year Open Oakland held an event to collaboratively build a web app for Oakland that helped people find the simplest and  clearest answers to their common questions about the City of Oakland.  We launched the site and received great coverage and even an award from the White House for this collaboration!

This year we are once again going to host an Oakland Answers write-a-thon and hackathon event for the National Day of Civic Hacking, an event sponsored by the White House.

This event is open to anyone in the community, regardless of their technical expertise. City of Oakland staff and members of the community will collaborate on answers to common civic questions, such as “When can I park at a yellow curb?” or “How do I get a business license?”.

Currently, over 100 people are signed up to participate in this event.

This event will be held at the new Impact Hub Oakland, at 2323 Broadway, from 10-4 on May 31st.   You can register and see more details here.
